NEW THREE CYLINDER 675CC – A MAGIC NUMBER FOR CFMOTO MOTORCYCLES?
EICMA REVEAL, SHOWCASES THE NEW UPCOMING 675SR MOTORCYCLE
Appearing at EICMA 2023, CFMoto strutted its stuff with a highly performance-orientated all new three-cylinder engine. Apparently, according to the company themselves, this 675cc engine is all new to the brand, but to the casual observer it does appear to bear some similarities to the Triumph 675cc engine.
According to CFMoto this is the first three-cylinder engine they have produced and heads the brand in a distinctly European direction, despite the apparent decline in demand for middleweight sportsbikes.
The newly revealed motorcycle boasts low weight and durability. It claims a low inertia crank, offering rapid engine response and acceleration, combined with smooth power delivery.
Some specs
Maximum torque for the 675SR is around 68 Newton-meters or 47.6lb ft - ‘in excess of 100 horsepower’ – perhaps tuned to favour street riding.

The new engine will have a rev ceiling of 12,300 rpm and zoom from 0-62 mph in 3 seconds! Aided by the low weight of the engine which is made from forged aluminium, yes even the pistons, it offers a 10-percent lower weight than similar bikes made by other manufacturers. The engine is tough, compact and lightweight, weighing-in at a mere 55kg with low inertia and a great rapid throttle response. A slip/assist clutch is also featured as standard.
CFMoto seems to have its finger on the pulse at the moment with these two new releases at EICMA which should prove to be popular – the aforementioned 675cc engined bike and the new 450 Adventure bike.
