NICK COOPER OF SKINT RACING TAKES A HAT-TRICK OF WINS AT BRANDS HATCH
WEMOTO CATCHES UP WITH ITS SPONSEE
Following on from an impressive win at Donington at the start of the month, Nick Cooper of Skint Racing returned for the next round of the Blue Haze 2-stroke championship at the Brands Hatch GP circuit on his Wemoto sponsored Aprilia RS250.
The day got off to a good start with Nick taking Pole position in qualifying. Nick then turned that into a win in race one with a best lap time of 1:46.540. In race two Nick took a 2nd place after a hard-fought battle with no.65 Andrew Moxon.
I caught up with Nick in his pit garage, where he explained that the bike had gone through some major set up changes for the weekend, trying new settings on the suspension and a change of gearing just for the fast GP circuit, and also the addition of slick race tyres which had already taken more than a second off his times compared to the last time he had raced here.
He was confident that he could go quicker in Sunday's races. He said that the changes were amazing, but took some getting used to. The bike was turning much faster due to the changes on the front suspension and the new tyres were great and made such a difference.
On Sunday, for races three and four, Nick did not disappoint, taking a win in each race and as he said he went faster than the previous day with a best lap time and fastest lap of 1:44.617, which was three seconds quicker than the last time he raced here.
I also managed to catch up with Sadie Cooper, Pit Chief and wife of Nick. She said, 'my head's still up in the clouds. So made up, makes all the hard work worth it. Love beating pukka GP bikes'.
