DO YOU CONSIDER YOURSELF TO BE A SKILFUL MOTORCYCLIST?

LET THE MCIA KNOW ABOUT YOUR ASSESSMENT OF YOUR PROWESS, BY COMPLETING THEIR SURVEY...

The MCIA have come up with a way to find out how good a rider you think you are and whether you would consider taking a motorcycle training course to upgrade your motorcycling skills. It's really about how you’d rate your own skills – are you as good a rider as you can be, or do you think there is room for improvement?

With a view to gathering this information, the MCIA have put out a survey which you can fill out, which asks questions about your riding habits. They want to know if you have taken any additional motorcycle training courses to upgrade your skills and if not, do you know what training is available out there. They are trying to find out if there is anything stopping you from doing more training such as lack of knowledge, lack of funds or lack of local training facilities. The general idea is that the MCIA wants to consult actual motorcyclists so that they can work out how to get more people interested in a bit of extra training which will hopefully make them safer on the roads.

The survey itself is pretty quick, so it won't eat a lot of your time. It seems like a good idea that real motorcyclists are being asked about their knowledge, needs and requirements as far as further training is concerned. To be honest, most riders probably feel that they could improve their skills – in fact riding is generally a learning curve and we all improve with experience, so maybe a bit of revision can help with this process and speed things up a bit. If you fancy making your contribution to the MCIA knowledge base with a view to improving the training on offer give it a go here.

Let us know your thoughts on riding your motorcycle. Do you think more training is beneficial for all motorcyclists, or are you at the top of your game already and any more would just be a waste of money and time?
